There is an increasing amount of scientific evidence that proves art enhances brain function. It has an impact on brain wave patterns and emotions, the nervous system, and can actually raise serotonin levels. Art can change a person’s outlook and the way they experience the world.

Decades of research have provided more than a sufficient amount of data to prove that arts education impacts everything from overall academic achievement to social and emotional development and so much more. Research has proven the arts develop neural systems that produce a broad spectrum of benefits ranging from fine motor skills to creativity and improved emotional balance. Quite simply, the arts are invaluable to our proper functioning individually and as a society.

My Story

Kylie Bain

The Purple Cow Art Studio is run by local Art Teacher and Art Therapist, Kylie Bain, who has been teaching children for over 30 years. Kylie is a highly qualified art teacher holding a Diploma in Fine Arts and has worked for many years teaching art in a private and public schools on the North Shore.

Kylie specialises in fun, colourful and creative art classes for little artists aged 5 to 12 years. Each class is planned and delivered professionally engaging and enhancing a child's passion for art. 

Kylie’s art classes not only teach painting and drawing techniques but also provide a safe and supportive space for children to express their emotions, build confidence, and discover new ways of thinking. Through art, children develop creative thought, inspire imagination, encourage self-expression, and explore their inner world in a healing and fun environment.

The Art Therapy Program

Art therapy empowers children to express their emotions, boost self-confidence, and enhance creativity in a safe, supportive environment. It fosters emotional healing, social skills, and improved focus. Parents gain valuable insights into their child's inner world, strengthening bonds and learning effective tools to support their child's emotional growth and resilience.

Art Classes

The Purple Cow Art Studio provides a range of comprehensive art classes both during the school term as well as school holiday art classes for children aged 5 to 12 years. The term program runs in parallel to the school term usually 9 or 10 week programs. The holiday workshops run for either two or three days, with a 2 hr session each day.

What sort of art do you teach?

There is something new to learn every week, with new mediums and techniques to explore. Mediums include drawing, acrylic painting, charcoal, watercolour, ink, mixed media, clay, soft pastel, oil pastels and more!
